2:52 PM: i spent a good part of the day working on the 10 1/2 x 16 1/2” doorplay. i think it’s vastly improved, having found it’s voice. if you look back at my work over the past 3-4 months, you will find consistant marks and imagry; just as, when we go out on our morning trail walks, there are consistant marks on the beautiful crestone rocks. nonetheless, each has it’s own signature.
9/14/26 doorplay takes these elements to a new dimension. the checkerboard b&w patterning on the upper and lower right, has appeared in one way or another in my recent work. here, however, i feel that it engages the entire composition, creating a kind of “classical” feeling. everything in this composition is exactly where it needs to be. gazing at it, as i am at the moment, from a distace of about 20 feet, as one might in a gallery or museum, it engages you fully. ican’t wait to see this one well framed.
