this series of paintings, which is still in progress as of 5/29/22, is inspired by our frequent visits to the anschutz medical campus in denver. on a recent visit, i began noticing more carefully the unusual architecture of the buildings. when i leaned over the half wall on the 4th floor and looked down, i was amazed at the complex series of lines and triangles; the shifting shapes influenced by the natural light and shadow; the colors and patterning on the floor…all integrated with the ever changing figures of patients seated in the armchairs.

so I stretched some 16x20” portrait linen canvases. this portrait linen, made in france by sennelier, is extremely fine, with virtually no visible texture, and takes the oil paint in a way unmatched by any other surface.

the series in ongoing, so this page will be updated as new works are completed.
