in motion," continued / by Philip Tarlow

in motion, 14 ½ x 57 1/2” oil on portrait linen as she looked following this morning’s work

1:37 PM; in motion was to blah, so today i worked more on it, adding strong colors. this morning i had a burst of energy. i took the painting off the wall where i had tacked it, placed it upside down on my painting table, took my brushes and began adding yellows, blues, blacks and flesh tones. i worked totally from gut instinct and stopped when i felt complete. only then did i turn it right side up and tack it once more to my painting wall.

yesterday’s version was too blah and although subtle, didn’t capture my attention when i gazed at it. now, it’s riviting to look at, and as well is more compatible with the others in this series, although different in it’s dimensions.
