below right is a collage on paper i made today, titled rm 56`01. tomorrow i'll probably do something to reduce the annoying specificity of the blue/white compass image in the map fragment located in the mid`left quadrant.
on the left, a gouache painted plein air in 2008, which shows how the imagery has progressed from the abstracted, asian-feeling marks in the plein air which nonetheless proclaim "i am a rock, i am a tree...." to the purely suggestive biomorphic marks in today's collage, which leave far more for the viewer too interpret.
