"precinct"-next stage / by Philip Tarlow

precinct, 32x36” oil on portrait linen, as she looked following today’s work.

2:13 PM: when i whited over precinct yesterday, the only bit i saved of the previous precinct is the entended hand surrounded by blue. today i was moved to revisit a subject i painted last april in a painting titled the miracle.: a couple seated in a restaurant with coffee & a basket of rolls on the table and a mirror behind them.

now you may be wondering “why did he keep the hand?”it’s so beautifully painted, i just couldn’t bring myself to paint over it. as i gaze at it on my painting wall, it kinda works in the composition…. i’ll see how i feel about it tomorrow.
