"11/244/25 the musician" / by Philip Tarlow

the musician, 24×21” oil on xtra fine portrait linen, as she looked moments ago

11:06 AM: i’ve been working on this 24x21” portrait linen canvas for a few days now, and scrubbed out whatever i did the following morning. today was no exception, so just now i started the musician over yesterday’s scrubbed out painting of a waking man with a shoulder bag. right now, it’s a black outline with a few flesh tones. the pink poka dots on his right leg are what remaines of yesterday’s painting.

i do recall photographing this street musician but i can’t recall when or where. i’ll ask mikela when she’s done with her morning work and she’ll remember. i do remember that his playing was very beautiful, and that we left him some money in the dish next to him.
