8:42 AM: after gazing last night & this morning at grey 16 in the house, i feel it is now resolved. so i'll take it back to the studio, un-stretch it and re-stretch it on stretcher bars without the masonite backing (which facilitates collaging) and hang it in the house, along with it's brothers and sisters.
