day 2: parade 47 / / by Philip Tarlow

4 pm: parade 47 at the end of my painting day. i won't be able to work on it again for at least 10 days, since my trigger finger surgery is monday & i won't get the stitches out until july 31.

it will be interesting to have such a big gap & i'm hoping i can return to the energy of this painting. the sidewalk painting this girl is making with her chalks, which may be a raphael, has some beautiful, full breasts, which i'm going to have to wait to paint.

2:53 pm: here's where parade 47 was about an hour ago:

it has since progressed & i'll post pics at the end of my painting day. BELOW: today's brunch & strap choice. brunch was designed to be very tasty while maintaining a low weight. the toast is munich rye from whole foods, with tangerine marmalade, by stonewall kitchen. the hard boiled egg, fresh from judy's chicks in crestone, is accompanied by chunks of tofu that was saluted last night, tomato, onion, lots of italian seasoning and drowning in bariani olive oil-lemon-mustard dressing, also from last night.

the strap is by mario pacci & made in firenze. i had briefly given up wearing watches, as my obsession was taking over my life. now i'm just trying to keep in at a reasonable level.

oh, and an observation: the mosquito population has dropped dramatically, perhaps because we had a couple of 47 F nights. i hope it continues!

mikela visited the studio about an hour ago & we talked about the possible outcomes of the talks on greece currently taking place in brussels. she's giving it 60/40 in favor of them getting a deal. but it will be, at this point, such a crappy deal, i'm wondering if it wouldn't be better in the long run for them suffer in the short term by exiting the euro and gain their independence in the long run. easy to talk about when you're not in the trenches, i know.

we also talked about feedback. giving & receiving it. gotta get back to work; i'll try & come back to this later.
