a few words from lucien freud / parade 44 kikoff / by Philip Tarlow

3:04 PM update: i started work on parade 44 today. i was really into it, when my feet started hurting. a lot. especially my right foot. suddenly i realized i had left my orthotics in my other shoes.

so i'm going to stop for the day, and continue work tomorrow; a short work day because we have to drive to alamosa for a meeting.

this image is taken for photographs and sketches i made last saturday at DAM (denver museum of art.) the image will reveal itself slowly, as the painting progresses. I go slowly, so that i can paint wet-into-wet while the portion i'm working on is still wet.

"I don’t want to retire. I hope I paint myself to death.”

Lucien Freud

After visiting the freud show in dallas a few years back, i decided he is my favorite contemporary painter.
