3:55pm upadte: i'm cooked! i did everything but actually stretch the canvas, which i can do tomorrow morning and start painting. i've been up since 5, so i need to go lie down with mikela. besides, tomorrow is my birthday, so don't deserve a little break? just kidding; i wouldn't trade our lifestyle and what we do individually & as a team for anything.
below: preparing the stretcher bars, attaching supports and a view of the as yet unstretched canvas with the completed drawing.
current state of the drawing for parade 39
1:07 update: i've begun the drawing for parade 39, which is 32x78." the image comes from photos i took at the opening of steamship, a makers space we're helping develop in alamosa. students at the opening event are seen from above. i should be able to complete the drawing by the end of my work day and, if i'm lucky, get the canvas stretched on the stretcher bars which should arrive in about an hour via UPS.
8am update: yesterday we were in alamosa, so i didn't post. i did take some pics after our meeting at the steamship, which had mostly to do with putting the word out to teachers & kids about our summer camp while school is still in session. after the meeting we took a tour of the art class and the woodworking shop; both very cool spaces. mikela is back in alamosa this morning for more meetings & she has my iphone with the pictures i took, but as soon as she's back i'll post them. my blick art supply order, containing the stretcher bars i need, arrives this afternoon, so i should be able to stretch the canvas for parade 39.
more later....
