skies en route to vail / by Philip Tarlow

6:23pm update: just returned home. too tired to write much. in a nutshell, the kid's presentations of their projects was, across the board, far better than expected. they sprinted the final few weeks, fine tuning and expanding their presentations to a degree that surprised and impressed their teachers, the parents who attended and one another. i shot lots of video and stills, which i want to go through and evaluate while they are still fresh in my mind. more, including some pictures, tomorrow.

yesterday we drove from crestone to vail in about 3 hours, passing through buena vista, leadville and minturn. along the way, we saw still snow packed peaks, threatening skies skies and had a few showers. thunderstorms are predicted tomorrow afternoon, and we may encounter a few on the drive home.

now we're headed for the middle school, where our little friends will be presenting their projects. i'll be video taping and mikela will offer words of support and encouragement, they've done some cool projects and have come a long way since we started working with them in early winter. they're excited about having an audience.

we head home tomorrow afternoon and i'll be back in my studio saturday morning.
