2:45pm update: below, the first stage of parade 33, based on a series of photos i took of the sculpture garden at MOMA. i'll continue work on this one tomorrow morning.

8:04am update: evaluating whether or not a new painting stands up usually involves carrying it 500 feet from my studio to the house and hanging it. this one passed the test, so here it will stay until we bring it with us to houston at the end of june.

in a few hours i'll begin work on parade 33, the drawing for which you can find on yesterday's post. yesterday afternoon i received an email form the son of a dear college friend. he let me know of his dad's passing in '95 and sent me a copy of a letter he found while going through his dad's stuff. i had sent this letter to my friend jeff on august 3, 1963 while hitch hiking down the dalmatian coast in yugoslavia. i'll post it later, here on my blog as well as on my "story" page.
