ST. ANTHONY

I must confess that whenever I hear the name Saint Anthony, I immediately think of the patron saint of lost items. And that would be the much-loved Franciscan, Saint Anthony of Padua, Doctor of the Church. This Saint Anthony has never let me down when I call for his intercession with regard to lost or misplaced items. Since childhood we have frequently used this familiar jingle to call for his assistance:

"Saint Anthony, Saint Anthony, please come around:

Something is lost and needs to be found!!"

Patti Murphy Dohn

various legends surround the death of anthony in 1231. one holds that when he died, the children cried in the streets and that all the bells of the churches rang of their own accord.

this morning i discovered i was missing my favorite keen shoes, which contain my only pair of orthotics. we returned monday night from denver, where we stayed at the element. i thought i must have left them in our room, so i called and asked them to check lost and found. nada. i was upset because, not only had i lost my favorite new shoes, but i would have to order new orthotics as well.

then mikela called up to me as i was making her second cup "pray to st. anthony!" i've done this many times in the past, always with excellent results. so i spoke to him, asking that he please help me locate my shoes & orthotics.

not 3 minutes later the hotel called saying that, after a more thorough search, they had found them! they're being shipped this afternoon and i should have them back tomorrow or saturday.

11:37AM update:

i'm excited to say that parade 36 seems resolved, no small thanks to my friend wendy's feedback. (see yesterday's post) once this insane wind dies down ....we have a red flag alert until tonight, i'll carry it over to the house where i can hang it and we can determine if it is indeed complete.

so now i'm going to begin preparing the next in my parade series, as well as attending to various loose ends that always get pushed aside when i'm in the thick of it with a painting.
