today's rework is on the left. the version on the right, stage 3, was completed on 5/1. discoveries made yesterday in valley stream, a collage on paper, have influenced the direction of the reworked mangaia. repeating vertical elements create more compositional coherence, and the deep blue of the map fragment in the upper center provides a place for the eye to return while exploring the other passages. in person, it has a much stronger presence than can be experienced in the digital reproduction.
