3/16/14 new collage / by Philip Tarlow

these are the first 3 stages. i was tempted to leave it at stage 3, but it needs more work...

below is the 4th and possibly the final state of a.p. grande complication. it has maintained some of the original calligraphic marks and the cut out piece of the audemars piglet grand  complication royal oak offshore watch to the left is now less prominent. drawing elements based upon the north crestone creek series of plein air paintings dance with marks inspired by chinese 11th c. calligraphy. some of these marks are on a smaller scale, others are clipped pieces of larger sweeping calligraphic gestures which, in the context of the drawings of rocks, read as rushing water. a snippet of an anime leg reflects my delight at the vintage book i received from tokyo last week.
