2:44 PM: today’s collage, playful marks, has no watercolor; just colored pencil and crayon. so it is, as the title suggests, a playful melange with lots of white space.

re-work of "Carissa Dances" by Philip Tarlow

12:40 PM: after gazing for hours at yesterdays version of carissa dances, I made some fundamemntal changes, essentially creating a new composition. carissa however does not at all appear to be dancing! not only that, but there are now two figures; with a smaller one to her left.

i love the simplicity and the colors, especially the blue on the lower left and the vertical blue stripe on the right. the entire thing would fall apart were it not for the orange leaf on the lower right.

6:12 PM: today mikela and i drove to alamosa; about a one hour drive, to run some errands and do some food shopping. while mikela was running errands, i sat in milagros coffee shop making drawings of patrons sitting nearby. here are the four drawings i made.

modifications to "5/14/26 Drawing/Collage" by Philip Tarlow

5/14/26 drawing/collage following this morning’s modificarions.

11:47 AM: i attended the mens group in crestone this morning and when i returned we took our trail walk, and then i got back to work on yesterdays drawing/collage. i’m not sure about the dark grey vertical on the left of the composition. while it lends structure to the very fluid composition, it amy need to be altered so that it doesn’t draw the eye away from the rest of the composition. actually, i may go ahead and do that as soon as i finish posting.
